Is it true that macroalgae while multiplying,cause the nutrients absored be released back into the system and can cause a tank crash? So would it be better to use Chaetomorpha instead of macroalgae because of this?? thanks!!

chaeto is a macro algae... it just doesn't cause the problems that caulerpa can during reproduction. I've had caulerpa in my tank before and just kept it pruned frequently. I had caulerpa racemosa and another species of caulerpa whose name escapes me at the moment... but have switched over to chaeto. If you can get chaeto it's considered a better/safer alternative nowadays. Caulerpa is considered an invasive species in many locales.
