?? about putting hands in the tank

This is causing a gigantic argument here between two of my sons.

Andy65 likes to put his hand in the tank and let our pair of cleaner shrimp run around on it and clean it. Afterwards, he will feed them a small piece of flake, maybe half of a large flake divided between two very large shrimp.

Son#2 is having a hissy fit at him doing this and says it absolutely should not be done every day. He said it should be done only once a week. However, he can't say way, only that its his own personal preference.

He's concerned about over feeding the shrimp. Which I can totally understand, but these are BIG shrimp.

So, should Andy NOT be putting his hand in the tank with the shrimp on a daily basis? His hands are throughly rinsed and wet with RO water before he puts them in.

Is half of a large piece of flake divided between the two shrimp too much to give them daily?

Thanks1

That practice shouldn't cause any problem at all as long as they are eating all the flake given them and still doing their "tank cleaner" job.
Now who does the shrimp belong to? If they belong to son # 2 Andy should honor his request. If they are Andys shrimp then son # 2 needs to give a better reason for asking him not to do this.

Thanks!

Technically, the tank and its inhabitants belong to Hubby. The boys do alot of the upkeep and maintenance on it though, hence the reason why they each think the tank belongs to them and not Dad.

If it was harming the shrimp and/or the fish, Andy would stop in an instant, but he wants a better reason other than his 15YO brother saying "Because I said so."

Yep Been there Done that with four of them all survived(barely)
Is son # 2 jealous maybe because Andy has such a good time with the shrimp? Maybe Andy could show him how to do that and share nightly fun time
