Brain Coral?

A few years ago my mother bought a yard sale a piece of coral I guess that looks like a large brain. It hasnt been in water for quite a few years now.
Its half brown and half white, is it any good to put in a tank?
I could take a picture if it would help.

Is it a piece of fake coral? Or the remaining skeleton of a coral?

you could put it in the tank, but i dont see any value of doing so... unless you want a skeleton of what used to be real coral in your tank?(ive its real)

It's not fake, Would it be worth putting at the bottom of the tank and covering it with live rock or should I just get rid of it?

Sounds like it's a skeleton. And no it's not fake just dead. The only thing I would be worried about is the brown areas. Specially if it have been just sitting around someones garage or something for years. I bet it has collected a lot of dust and/or bacteria. Most that I see at LFS are always covered in plastic wrap or something and are all white like this...Coral Skeleton
