110 gallon with drilled holes need input

I got this tank and the holes are for a filter. Whats the best to use? I'll likely be fresh water but I know the holes are common in salties.

The holes are used in salt tanks to transport the water from the main tank to the sump.
If you are going fresh water, I would look at blocking off the holes. What type of filter are you looking at running?

Or you could just give it to me.... nice size tank

I have no idea what filter I should use. I would like to make use of the holes and piping. It came with a lot of various tubes, fittings and levers, but no filter. Do you suggest I buy a canister or sump type filter to use the holes and if so do you have suggestions for what type to get. Its in my bedroom so I want something quiet and something I could fill with my choice of media and not be totally bound to the makers products. Thanks for the help. I got this beauty for $200 came with lots of plants, a heater, whisper 60, 48" bubble wall and the stand.

lots of different options there. You can set it up like a salt water tank but use freshwater. Talk to the people at the LFS store in terms of how to setup the plumbing...

You could run those intakes into a smaller sump and then have a secondary power filter (ie fluval 404 or equivalent) and have that running as well. Again, talk to the lfs people

Where are the overflow boxes ? You can't plumb that tank without them .. OK maybe with a straight pipe, but I wouldn't !!!

If you didn't mind seeing a PVC pipe in the middle of your tank, it's entirely possible to use the setup as a sump setup. You can always use either plants or rockwork to hide the return pipe.
