converting fresh tank to sw tank

I am buying a 55 gal that used to be a freshwater tank which I am making into a SW tank. The deal is coming with the hood, filter, gravel, stand etc. I need to know for sure what to change, and add on.
I am planning on a FOWLR setup (at first, I'm not sure if I'll do reef but it isn't completely out of the picture). Lighting wouldn't be acceptable because I believe freshwater uses NO fluorescents. Would it be easy to switch to VHO or compact flourescent from this? I don't know what the hood look like yet fyi.
I am 100% sure the filter isn't worth jack for SW so I know I have to dive into wet/dry, skimmers, etc. Any suggestions on what else I will need?
Thanks
P.s. As a side note, I love clowns (not because of nemo but watching them in many an aquarium!) so it is feasable to have 1 black clown and one ocellaris clown in my 55 gal tank?

the black clown is an ocellaris so a standard orange one and a black one are the exact same speces and will be fine together.

Actually, for FOWLR, standard flourescent lighting is fine. Though you may want to get a reef bulb for it to help bring out the color more. Beyond what you have already mentioned, look into some power heads to get some water movement going inside the tank. 20X tank volume per hour would be the goal.

Just to clarify, the standard flourescent is the NO flourescent and the reef bulb would be an actinic bulb?

I'm not familiar with the term "NO". Standard flourescent is like this:

A reef bulb for a standard flourescent fixture is 50/50 daylight/actinic, like this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...97&pcatid=4497

"NO" is Normal Output.
