how long should i wait?

i just set up my very first fish only saltwater tank (29 gallon with 160gph powerhead-250gph canister filter-1200gph protein skimmer) and i was wondering if i should wait a few days before i introduce a fish?
i have kept freshwater aquariums for 5 years now and i have always waited around 3 days when i first set up a tank, and then i get one fish to put in it so that it starts cycling. would that be a good thing to do for saltwater also?
any help is much appreciated. thanks.

Are you using live rock in your tank? If so this will cycle your tank. If not then if you do wish to add a fish to start your cycle you will want to add a damsel as they are very hardy fish though there are other ways to cycle a tank. You can use bio-spira and I believe you can also use fish flakes in saltwater.

no im not going to use live rock. i like the look of just fish and nothing else.
would it be better to get 1 damsel or 2. because i would like to add a tang or something else later on?

I don't believe damsels and tangs get along, you would have to double check that, if not you can probably return the damsels to a petstore.

No tangs that I know of would fit in a 29 gallon long term. They need lots of swimming space.
