Aww I'm so sorry to hear that. Just remember you know you tried. When you do everything you can there isn't much else you can do.

It is likely that the fungus was isolated to just the one fish. I'd still be leary. Definitely do a nice large water change. Finishing out the medication cycle may not be such a bad idea.

I'm sure you won't want to loose more money on fish you'll end up seeing die.

Thanks gozer. Ya it was a tough one.

The bottle for the pimafix says 7 days but thats for treating a sick fish - not sure what the process would be for the current situation.
I think im just going to stop with the treatments and keep it onhand just incase it comes back in the future- better to not overtreat when nothing is there to kill.
I called the LFS again and spoke to the manager and he said that since there was just one fish, i should be fine for putting in more livestock.
I'm impatient and hate staring at an empty tank so I'm going to give it a shot - I'll do a nice size water change sunday and keep a close eye on them for any signs of disease.
I going with multiple fish this time to up my chances of survival and have less stress on the fish.
I think I'm going to go with some Green Chromis - 3 of them so they will likely school. I know its risky since they are a damsel but they are supposed to be the least aggressive of the damsel family so I'm going to risk it. They seem like a good cheap starter fish that are fun to watch too. Might get a cleaner shrimp too just to be on the safe side.

Yeah you should be good. Still do a nice healthy water change. I think you will be pleased with the chromis. I love mine. They're very active and are real fun to watch. They have a total social order. You can tell the "leader" of the pack. Good Luck.

RIP Nemo.

Now if it was fungus - how soon can i put a replacement fish in the tank now?
Sorry to hear about Nemo
I think you need to still treat the tank for the fungus for 7 days...
Then do very large water changes 40% to 50% 4 times..
Keep a watch on your perameters.
Don't dwell on the past..
Look to the future..

Ralph, I've read horror stories on these type of scenarios before. I'm inclined to agree with Peter Piper Pizza lol.

Ya Im going to be doing a big water change on Sunday and will keep an eye on the fish. I'll do another treatment for the fungus tomorrow but I dont know if i will do anymore. I will just keep a close eye on the fish for any white fuzz growth.

I picked up 3 fish today and my roommate picked up 3 as well.
3 Blue/Green Chromis and 3 PJ Cardinals. Both sets are already schooling and swimming around healthy. The blue chromis is my favorite - he really has a great shine to him.
I just think it was only having 1 clown, him not eating and then getting the fungus. He couldnt fight the infection cause he hadnt eaten in several days.
Thanks for all the advice guys - i'm going to keep a close eye on these guys and will let you know how things turn out.

Haha is that so Aaron?
I did an extra precaution on these guys and did a quick f/w dip just to rid them of any parasites they might have.
Also am going to invest in a cleaner shrimp when the tank settles some.

Yep, yep. That's so! Nice to see you online again. But, its only to say good night. Its 10pm here and getting up at 4 in the morning. God it should be a sin to get up that early. I didn't even know that mornings had a 4!

Good fish choices. I like the PJs too. They're both great fish to start with. Like I said i think you're fine but finishing the treatment cycle could be a CYA.

Thanks Peter.

Keeping up with the meds and doing a 25% water change tomorrow at some point.
Fish are doing good and are eating like pigs. The chromis are like little piranhas - darting all over the tank to snatch up all the food.
