Personally I have a 55 reef in the making. The crew I have has worked pretty well for me. My biggest problem was keeping the gravel stirred so alot of my crew decisions were based on that. I also did't want to deal with any potetial problem species so I went all snail. I hear crabs can be cranky and may eat some desirable species. (ie. my feather duster colony) and starfish can eat themselves out of food as well as getting large and knocking stuff over. Anyway here is my list. It may be a little heavy, but as I said they do a good job of keeping the algae (Brown and green fuzz type algeas) mowed.
1 Mexican Turbo Snail (Would like 1 more)
2 Astrea Snails (Would prefer Mexican Turbos)
30-40 Nassarious Snails (Detritus eaters and sand stirrers)
30 Jumbo Cerith Snails (Detritus\Algae eaters and sand sifters)
I have considered one Blue leg Hermit Crab just cause I like to watch them.
fish stock
1 Green Chromis (gonna be 3-6)
1 Tomato Clown
1 Purple Pseudochromis
future
3 PJ Cardinals if I only get 3 Chromis
1 Green Mandarin (maybe)
