New 55 gal saltwater tank!!!
I now have my saltwater fish tank set up. So far I have 3 fish which are green chromis. I will be getting more soon. I was so excited when I was able to add fish. I want to add 3 more chromis, a tomato clown and 1 or 2 damsels. I am not sure what other fish I should add. So I would take suggestions.
Thank you

Wow that's very nearly the same setup I am slowly putting together. I want Cardinals instead of Damsels. I just got a purple pseudochromis today, and I hope to have a Green Mandarin at some point. So, sounds like a great setup up to me.

Update
I saw that we did have about the same Ideas for fish that was pretty cool.
I did change it a little though. When I went to go get a tomato they didn't have any so I ended up getting the ocellaris clown fish. I gave in. All the 4 fish are doing well. And I hope to introduce maybe one more during november. I really want some color to my tank so probably different color then I already have. I'll let you all know when i chose one that will work for the rest of the fish.

I was shopping for an Ocellaris and ended up with a Tomato. How ironic.
Well the Pseudochromis has picked a territory and adjacent cave. He defends it from the wayward swimming of the 2 Chromis I have. He's getting along with them well though. He just likes his cave, just like the clown loves hers. I really like the bright color (bright purplish pink). If you want to add color to your tank, a purple pseudochromis will do the trick. Here is a link
http://www.marinedepotlive.com/straw...dottyback.html He is the first thing people see now. First glance everyone says, "Whoa, that's a pink fish" lol. Blue Damsels are a nice color but I hear they can be a bit feisty. The pseudo is feisty in "his" 6in sphere of water. Oh and adjacent cave. You can only really have one though. Might mess with any similar fish too, not sure. I think I'm going to go with 3 more Chromis and call it good for awhile. I was thinking Cardinals because of their color pattern but the Chromis really enjoy being in a group. Pajama Cardinals definitely add a little color, in the form of stripes and polka dots lol. Here they are http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p....cfm?pCatId=85 They're so cute.

Cool we traded. I guess I will this time =).
I was reading about the Pseudochromis and it said on the general information that it was not good for a peaceful tank. That makes me sad. Have you had any problems with him being overly aggressive? That was the reason I wasn't sure about getting a damsel.
Also I haven't had an easy time trying to find some good rock/cave decorations for them. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on that.

Well, the pseudochromis is a bit of a jerk. He defends his cave for sure and does kind of dart at the chromis once in awhile. I wouldn't call it over aggressive but definitely a jerk. I have found it fairly difficult to find a SW fish that isn't a little mean sometimes. Atleast by what I've read online. Compared to my first SW fish, the pseudo is an . He was a vicious killer. I must say though, that I'm currently missing one Chromis. He had some pretty bad fin damage (LFS guy not so gentle) so I think he was just hurt but there is a chance that the pseudo helped him "crossover". Although I never once saw the pseudo actually pursue anyone else. Just dart towards then back to the cave, so I don't really think it was the Pseudo. I thought for a long time about getting the Pseudo and in the end I decided the color was worth it. They aren't very big. Mine is about 2in and from what I read and have been told they only get to 2.5 or 3in. Once the Chromis grow up a little I think the Pseudo will be less interested in bullying. He completely avoids the Clowns cave and she is about adult chromis size, a little more defensive though.
For caves I have about 70Lbs. of live rock stacked up. The chromis disappear into caves at night. You're lucky to even find one. It's amazing how well they can hide.
I have heard Damsels reffered to as fish of Satan. Thats why I don't want any. I already dealt with Satan himself (Lunare Wrasse ), I don't want his minions. lol I actually bought a yellow tailed blue damsel when I had the Wrasse but I came home from work to find that the Wrasse had snacked on a large portion of my new Damsel.

Well I think that kind of makes me change my mind on him then. My fish get along so well right now. They are always in a group the four of them. I almost don't want to get any more fish because i am afraid to mess with the peace. I can't stand any mean fish and I do have some but i put the two together and they get all just fine. HMMM I guess I do have time to think about it though.
I might ask the store what they would suggestion. The store we have is awesome and so are the people they are really cautious with people buying saltwater they make sure we have everything right. And they know what they are talking about. I guess I got lucky!
I've been wanting to get live rock but might have to wait a little while and thank you for the help.
Aww sorry about the poor little damsel. I actually did saltwater before too. I didn't know jack about it when I had it though. I had 2 yellowtail damsels, 2 chromis, and a domino damsel. Lol well the 2 chromis lasted about 2 or 3 weeks then about a month after that one of my yellowtails i found dead and half eaten. Then I added a 3 stripe damsel. Everything was good until my niece got ahold of their food and poured a good amount in there and well they all died. And that was the end of that for about 8 months then I started up again.

My Chromis are for sure my favorites. The way they all group together. Cutest fish I have. I had 2 for awhile then lost one. The solo one was so freaked out untill I got his new friends. When I first floated the bag in the tank, the solo fish immediately lined himself up with the fish in the bag and tried to school around with them. The ones in the bag were pushing on the side trying to join up with him. I kind of cut the acclimation time down because they seemed so excited to meet each other.
A small part of me does regret the Pseudo, but he really just stirs it up a little. Keep the Chromis on their toes. He'll get his when they are bigger lol. Kind of like the big brother picking on the little brother untill one day little brother is bigger than big brother. hehehe I will admit he wasn't originally part of my stock plans. I wanted a Green Mandarin but I hear they can be picky eaters and hard to keep healthy because of it. They have insane colors.

Beth, do you have pics? I am interested in having Green Chromis in the future. It is one of the few fish of must haves on my list. I'd very much like to see your tank set up and the fish. Also, how have they behaved? Do they just shoal (group together? or do they actually school (move in unison)?

I'm not sure what their true nature is in the wild. Mine do more of a shoal thing than a school. I have 5 and they all hang together at all times and totaly interact with each other semisocially, but they don't exactly move in "unison". So I guess that makes them a shoal. I'd love to see a huge group of them at sea and find out how they act there.

That would be awesome. The other shoaling fish I want is the Pajama Cardinal... I'm no fan of polk-a-dots, but, its so funny to see them on fish. Like the clown triggerfish and another one I thought was a box fish, but, I can't find it now. It is black with white polk-a-dots all over. Makes me laugh.

I thought about some PJs but decided to go with a larger group of chromis. They love to have friends. My LFS has a Marine Betta. It is a beautiful fish with polka dots. 70 bucks, a bit too steep for me but he's gorgeous.
Here's one

Sadly no I don't have any pics. I will have to steal my sis's camera and get some for you guys. Well Right now I only have three chromis and when I first got them they did everything together at the same time but they aren't like that so much anymore. They usually stay together but they don't do everything in unison. They love hanging out with other fish for sure.
Oh and I really don't think the PJ's are that pretty but that is just me. Don't hate me.
