Ideas?

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure about this decision, but I might convert my 30 gallon freshwater tank to a FOWLR IF my guppies would stop breeding and until my fishe dies because of age. So I will keep them and give them the best care, but I will not replace them most likely.

So if I do decide for a FOWLR it'll have:
skimmer (either venturi or airstone)
over 30lb. of LR
1 or 2 K2
Hang on overflow
20 gal. sump/refugim
sand
Actinic/ daylight lamps

My question is, what should I keep in there? I would like ideas for fish. The main fish I want is a Flame angel.

Might even just get a 30 or 50 gal out of craigslist so I could keep my freshwater

Thanks,

Hi ATP.

I wish I could help with your stocking list but I'm not very familliar with SW. All I can think of is Clownfishes which I sooo love and hope to get some one day when I start a SW. Hope other SW members can drop by quick to offer their opinions and suggestions. Good luck!

Flame angle would be good and brittle sea stars are pretty cool but may require target feeding which in 30 gallons can be hard to find/ reach.

Thanks for the help.

Update:
I decided to sell all of my freshwater fish except 2 mickey mouse platies, 1 male guppy frie and a few plants. (going into a 5 gal.) (sad to see my five banded barbs go. I looked for them so hard and I finally found them and now I'm selling them )

Well since you want to go with the Flame Angel as the main fish you could add a sixline wrase or yellow wrasse. A couple of black and white Clown Fish and a couple of Blue Reef Chromis. That should give you size and coloration.

Flame angel is beautiful!!

I want one, and i want to keep it with:
4 banggai cardinals
pair of clowns

So far i haven't heard anyone say they have had conflict between these.
Also this make yours flame a 'centrepeice' of the tank
