i cant choose between a dwarf lionfish alone in my tank or if i should get a few smaller, less messy, more colorful, fish that have less personality. I like both plans but i cant do both.

I look up your tank info and you already have a reef, so why not try the lionfish I've always wanted one, but my 38 gallon saltwater turned out to be a reef and then I sold it and upgraded it to a 65 gallon frag tank. They do eat invertebrates though.

Ive got the lion reserved so i think ill try with it first, and if i decide i dont like the tank, cuz its empty or any other reason, ill go for the small colorful fish.
