future plans

are 2 bangaii cardinals, 1 yellow watchman goby, 1 royal gramma, 1 6-lined wrasse, and a coral beauty angel an ok stocking list for a 38 gallon tank?

i still havent decided whether to get a flame or coral beauty angel. the flame is harier, but i like the coral beauty more.

Too many fish for a 38 gallon IMO. I'd skip the sixline wrasse, as they have a tendency to get aggressive. I think the flame and coral beauty angel are the hardiest species you can buy, so get what appeals more to you. Either way, you'll want to add the angel last, as it is the most aggressive fish in your stock list.

ok, i hope it turns out well. i kinda missed my freshwater tank cause i didnt really have anything interesting yet. i like my goby, but hes not very active. Now that ive got my new bangaiis, it looks alot better...and i know switching was worth it. im just hoping it stays that way!!!

oh yeah, is it normal for a bangaii to hang out near the surface? i just got her 2 days ago, so im not sure if thats why.

Your goby isn't going to be very active. That's just the way that watchman gobies are. If you want his behavior to be more interesting, you can try adding a pistol shrimp (alpheus spp.) and see if they will pair up, since he is a shrimp goby. If you can get them to pair, the symbiotic relationship is fascinating.

Your banggais are acting normally IMO. They tend to just hang out. The royal gramma on your list isn't a very active fish either, but any dwarf angel certainly will be. Just resist the urge to stock quickly and be sure to take it slow, and your tank will be great.

i do have the pistol shrimp, and im not sure if theyve paired or not. now 1 of my bangaiis is sitting on the bottom. the male is fine, but i dont think that the female will survive. darn it. theyre really pretty too.
