Stocking a 75 gallon

So here's what i'm thinking so far for the 75 gallon i'm setting up this week:
2 ocellaris clownfish
1 yellow tang
1 niger/picasso trigger (depending on which one i decide on)

Any other ideas? Preferablly no crustaceans

Maybe a blue cheek goby or watchman goby.
Scooter blenny are also nice

What are some rules of thumb about stocking a saltwater aquarium? I'm assuming the same rule of keeping fish of the same aggressiveness in freshwater tanks applies to saltwater too. What else should i make sure of before purchasing fish.

Let's see, no crustaceans means it's a FO tank. You could add a dwarf angel (flame, coral beauty, bicolor, etc).

Are you going with sand or gravel for the substrate? If sand, you'll want something to move around the bottom and keep it stirred up like a scooter blenny.

i would add another clown, a few chromis and maybe a royal gramma
maybe a heniocka
or a blue hippo tang

You shouldn't add anymore tangs or triggers to the tank. A blue hippo tang definitely shouldn't go into a 75g because it is just too small. Look into some of the smaller angels, basslets, wrasses, or anthias.

I'm suprised no one caught my mistake. I won't be able to keep a trigger with the clown fish because of how aggressive the triggers are. It's a shame, i really wanted an undulate trigger, they are so cool.

I think it can be done. It just depends on the individual fish and the tank size.

Well from what i've read triggers are quite mean and will eat almost anything that can fit in it's mouth. I guess i could buy a small trigger but i'm not gonna find one smaller then my clowns. and they do grow. sooo

Have you ever seen a trigger's mouth? My Blue Jaw has a tiny mouth. I'm sure it gets bigger, but I don't worry at all about my Yellow Watchman, clowns, or firefish getting eaten.

yeah but blue jaw's are one of the less aggressive triggers. i"m more into the clown trigger, undulate trigger, and niger trigger which are 3 of the more aggressive type. I want to get them so badly but i don't want to run the risk of losing 1. $70 worth of fish and 2. two fish i really like.

Then why not just buy the trigger and leave the clowns for another tank?

What about a Maroon Clown? They get around 5" and can be mean as heck and should have no problem holding their own against some more aggressive fish.

Or a less aggressive trigger.

What about a Harlequin Tusk?

Haha well i just set up this one, don't plan on setting up another any time soon. If i had the money my house would be filled! The clowns are already in there with some damsels. I'm waiting for the tank to finish cycling then i'm getting rid of the damsels and getting my real fish
