No problem. Be sure you have the right set up (lights, tank age/water quality, etc) before you jump though...anemones are not known for their hardiness in the aquarium.

yeah, I read that in a book and I was really sad when I found out that I couldn't get one too soon. I've been wanting a marine tank with clownfish for along time. luckily there are other tipes of clown fish like the Clark's anemonefish that dont require anemones

None of the clownfish I am familiar with require an anemone. You can keep any of them with or without an anemone.

To add to this, I've read that sometimes clowns will adopt some soft corals or leathers if there is no anemone. Which is why i'm really interested to see what will happen in a few weeks when my tank stabalizes again (overfed oops. ).

oh really, I read that the common clownfish (Ocellaris clownfish) needed one

Absolutely not true. You can make the argument that clowns require an anemone in the wild to shelter them from predation. In an aquarium, however, there are no predetors for the clown to worry about, and so the anemone is not needed. In fact, there are a few people out there who advocate never keeping anemones in an aquarium because 1) they don't have a great survival rate, and 2) taking them out of the wild reduces the numbers available to shelter wild clowns who really do need them. Bottom line...you are perfectly safe keeping occellaris with no anemone.

I never really thought of it that way, but I can see how that would definetly be true. I love it though because I can get a clownfish sooner!
