Yellow tang-Will it fit or not...

Hi

I saw a lovely yellow tang of about 3in in size at my lfs. Yea, he captured my heart, lol.
I have a 38gal tank, altho water volume in total is 52gals (because of the sump). My question is, can i keep him in that size tank without harming him? I believe they are slow growers, right? And if he did get too big i can trde him at my lfs, but i rather do whats better.
What would you do?

I think you shound't get him. Although his small he might still need more space to swim. I not sure cuase I never kept one. I think that they will get ich is streesed. Some people have one in a 40 but i thing thats the limit.

I have one in a 65 gallon tank (plus sump). The issue isn't so much the volume of water as it is swimming room. Mine goes all over the tank.

Plus they can get up to 8" in size. What are the dimensions of the tank?

36 = width
13= sides
19 = length

I guess it will be really pushing the limit, eh.
