Diamond Goby overboard

My Diamond Goby jumped out of the tank Fri night. This is the second Goby to do this and don't know why. I have a sandshifting star, few turbo snails, and hermit crabs. What would be recommended to keep sand clean? I'm done with the diamond for now, until I figure out the cause for jumping. No other fish have, everybody else is fine, nitrates and such at 0. It's a 150 gal tank so have plenty of room will try and attach pictures.

I know some species of gobies are prone to jumping out tanks. Liveaquaria used state which ones are but now since they redesigned their website, none of the species of gobies are mentioned as being jumpers.

Sorry to hear about the loss though.

And welcome to Fishlore and very nice tank btw!!

Thank you, I got lucky and stumbled upon it. Got such a great deal couldn't pass up. Any recommendations on sand cleaners. I have a few turbo snails, one sand shifting star and a few hermits but sand not moving as much now. Shrimp maybe

I have a fire shrimp but he doesn't do anything with the sand. I don't have any sea stars so I don't have input there. I have 3 different kinds of snails and I still can't rid of all of my diatoms on my sand. BTW, I have 2 astrea, 3 mexican turbo snails and something like 16 nassarius snails. The mexican turbo snails do a good job of cleaning the glass though.

I was planning on going with a sea star to take care of the sand but I don't plan on getting one for a couple more months. Not sure which one but was thinking of getting a marble sea star if for nothing else because of how cool that one looks.

My sandshifter does ok. He moves around but not alot. I read they will eat up all your good bacteria in the sand, but don't know if that's true. He has plenty to eat in my tank. I like the pebble star also , pretty cool looking.

What does your shrimp eat, I was told they help clean the sand?

My fire shrimp pretty much eats what he can find but he doesn't move the sand around or eat the diatoms off of it. Now when I do feed my fish, he comes right out looking stuff around him. He'll grab flakes if they make it down to the bottom and almost always gets his hands on mysis and brine shrimp that I also use for feeding.
