Have you checked for phosphates? With that big of a WC your bound to get em. I would limit my WC to once weekly at about 25%.
Algae needs to feed and phosphates are their #1 food source. Phosphates come from a wide range of things, including uneaten foods, fish waste and tap water. Your doing right by lowering your lighting. I would also try feeding once a day or even every other day. You can also get a phosphate remover from you LFS.
Hope this helps, I know it did with me.

p.s. How's your ICH outbreak? I've had it in my bio cube and just wondering what you've done to get rid of it.

there is no fish in it so there is no uneaten food and i dont use tap water i use LFS RO/salt 1dollor per gallon. LFS tested the water today says every thing is good he says it's just a algae bloom so well see.

the marine bio at the LFS says the ich should be gone in 21 days so well see. he says take all the fish out if you can put in a Q/T but i dont have any fish so idk. i have a flame hawk in my Q/T i just got him today, he will be in there for 2 weeks and by that time the ich should of died off because they really cant live without a fish host

What are your readings for nitrate and phosphate in the tank?

What about those levels in the replacement water?

What kind of foods, how much and how often are you feeding?

Reef-Wrecked - That last post was not necessary. People are asking you the questions that need to be asked to help you.

The biggest contributors to algae growth are light and nutrients in the water. You have already addressed light, which leaves us nutrients to zero in on. Two of the biggest sources of algae friendly nutrients are nitrate and phosphate. Guess where they come from...either present in your source water or from the break down of food placed in the tank. Therefore, the questions being asked were reasonable and necessary to help you.

You have posted your nitrate level, which seems to be under control. Have you tested for phosphate levels? Incidentally, it is not at all uncommon to battle green glass for months on a new tank.

Not going to debate that point with you. Do not make any more posts like the edited one, please. They only keep people from wanting to continue trying to help you, and makes the mod's eyelids twitch.
