Help with lowering phosphates

Ok tanks been up for three months now. I am seeing more algae by the day. My glass has to be scraped every other day from algae that is film like. I am noticeing hair algae on the back of the tank and on some of the rocks. My test results are 0-0-0 460 cal, .05 phos temp 82.
An RO is not an option for now at least. The guy at the LFS said to get some no phosphates chemical. Is there anything I can do to reduce the phates till I can get a ro unit. Please help.

If you don't have any nitrates, the tank hasn't cycled yet (unless it's just a faulty test kit? It does seem strange for it to be uncycled after 3 months).

1.) is the tank getting direct sunlight?

2.) have you been adding anything to the water?

I'm not sure what to suggest except to keep manually removing as much as you can, and try to figure out what's helping the algae succeed, then remove/reduce that variable. If you're pretty sure that high phosphates are causing the algae, frequent water changes should help, right? Where do you think the high phosphates are coming from? Could they be leaching out from decorative rocks?

After the tank's fully cycled, it might be worth reading through the threads on algae eating tank inhabitants, though no one solution would help with both types of algae.

Good luck. I hope someone else comes along who can help a little more than this.

I figured out where my phosphates are coming from, my tap water. I am getting a 2.0 reading on them ouch that’s high. I am using phos pure pads on my filter; I am hopeing that works out. I am looking to get phos ban. My lfs has it on order for me will be in next week. I am going to manually take out the alga that’s on the sand. I got some nassarus snails and a couple emerald crabs. Hopefully that works out. Anyone got any other suggestions. A RO unit is out of the question for now. Thanks.

Maybe it's time to consider using RO water as your sole source, or set a simple gravity drip kalkwasser reactor. That should take care of phosphates (with the little know-how I have to date).
