55 Gallon Tank: Salinity level fluctuating?

I have a 55 UK Gallon tank with a Red Sea hydrometer. The prblem I have is the salinity has been fluctuating between 1.018-1.022?? I thought it may be the flow of water produced by my additional pump so have moved it and it is still doing the same? Has anyone any idea's?

Your top off water is not salt water is it? Are you checking after evaporation and before top off or after evaporation and after top-off? How is this pump able to effect your salinity? what is the pump you are referring too used for? how are your water changes and top-offs done, manually or automatically?

Could be bubbles on the swing arm. Make sure you tap or flick the hyrdrometer with your finger to dislodge any bubbles on the swing arm.
