Question about what size sump should be used.

I am new to salt water. I have a 75 gal tank that I will be converting over to salt water through out this year. I have been doing research on this and was wondering how big of a sump should I get? I was thinking something like a 20-29 gallon would be nice. I think to start out I will use live rock and fish only. No coral until I get used to this and do a lot of learning.

The sump can be as big as you can accommadate and large enough for equipment and what ever else you have planned i.e fuge,

+1...as big or as small as you want/need to accomplish your goal. If you are merely wanting someplace to hide your equipment, you could go as small as a 10 gallon. If you are wanting to significantly increase the volume of water in your system, you can go as large as you have space for.

I saw a 40 gallon breeder with a 65 gallon sump once. So really, it can be as big or as small as you want. Just depends on what you want to do with it.

Haha, I've seen a 3 gallon pico with a 30 gallon sump/refugium.

For fish only, you don't even really NEED a sump/refugium, unless you just want it to look cleaner.
