well the size of the tank depends on how much room you have and how confiedent you are keeping and time you have to spend on keeping it ,,
stocking is dependant on species and tank size
protein skimmer is dependant on size of tank deltec skimmers are very good mce600 ,,
a sump would be a good idea a phosphate reactor if your keeping corals a kalk doser would be benefical . it all depends on what you want fo FOWLR or a reef setup ?? lighting is also dependant on this so if you decide what you want to keep ie what fish what corals the sapce you have then people could help you more

1 -
2 - As big as you can afford and have room for.
3 - Depends on the tank size and what you like, then we would have to go from there on what can and can't go together.
4 - One rated for your tank size, then depends on if you have a sump tank, which you could get an in sump protein skimmer, or if not get an HOB Protein Skimmer
5 - Buy the best quality of equipment you can even though that means spending more. Get a refractometer(more accurate) over a hydrometer.

I currently have 2 black clownfish and 3 green chromis.

Also the fish i wish to keep in my new tank is a blue tang, 2 occelaris clownfish, my current fish, and then any others that you may think would do well with these fish.

I have alot of time to clean and check my tank. And also my dad helps me out alot.

i know the minimum size tank for a blue tang is 284 litres so does that mean i should get a tank about 300 Litres?

I have alot of space to keep a large tank.

I also wish to keep corals and live rock.

What sort of protien skimmers and any other equiptment will i need to get the best out of my corals, Live rock and fish?

Plz Help Me!

From Matt

i wouldnt advise putting 2 diffrent types of clowns as they normally fight , with tangs you need a good wide tank minimum 5ft as they do require a good swim room ,,
If you have a sump which on a larger tank is very advisable i would run the skimmer in there and a phosphate reactor and a kalkweiser dosing unit with a auto top up system and metal hailides lighting unit for your corals, when you say a blue tang do you mean a powder blue or a regal ? (dory) , if i think of anything else i will add to ya post as it is late and brain not in gear

Like nemo addict said two different species of clownfish shouldn't/can't go in the same tank, because they will most likely fight. Live rock should be used in all SW tanks as the main biological filtration.

Thanks Alot For Your Help.

Also i mean a dory. And is it possible to have a yellow and regal tang together?

Plz Reply

And also is it smart to buy a sump tank or isnt it 100% Necessary?

The tank will have to be at least 90 to hold both tangs in my opinion. A sump isn't 100% needed, but it will help a lot of with water quality.

You don't need to buy a "sump" directly from a store either. You can just buy another tank and turn it into a sump easily. That will save a lot of money since the sumps they sell in store have a pretty big markup. And with a sump, the tank doesnt need to look clean, in other words it can have scratches and everything (as long as it holds water) since it will most likely not be in sight, so you can get a cheap used one that is cheap just cause it isn't as pretty.

I'm pretty sure everyone in saltwater would highly advise getting a sump.

tangs of simlar colour or body shape dont normally get along but a yellow and a regal should be ok together
