? utilize filter insitu???

Hi there,
Im new to all this (having only had coldwater fish in past) and currently busy researching in prep to start up a reef display. I have obtained a Vison 260L bow fronted tank which has a filter (16"x6"x5") already in situ ?Glued in the corner of the tank. As it seems there will be no need/ or in fact it would be detrimental to use such a filter in a reef setup does anyone know how I can remove it safely or if it could be utilized for some other reason Help

I'm not quite sure of the safest way to remove it from your description. Do you have a picture?
Maybe you could leave it there and just not plug it in.

Ta for such a quick reply, I have been trailing the internet gaining info all day, I have totally caught the bug and cant wait to start my creation, altho I think it may be long way off as have so so much to learn. Anyway back to my first problem, if I cant utilize it for something else, it is 'dead' space,. Unfortunately I havent got photos .....my dog keeps trying to eat my mobile and hence the camera is not working!!! I blame the owner

If you really want to remove it - i understand that these filters are placed in the aquarium with a very high stregth epoxy - the only solution i have is that you would have to gently/gently take a small saw that is made for high impact plastic/plexiglass and saw out sections - imo the risk would be too great. You could end up scratching the glass, possibly cracking the glass or your hand(s). What I have seen with this type of tank, is that aqauriast cover it, and use input/output hoses for thier sump tanks.
