ok im starting a new tank. i just got it about a week ago. i want to drill it for two over flows, but i dont know if it is tempered. i dont want to drill on the bottom, for one i dont have the parts for that, and two some tanks are tempered on the bottom. so i want to drill on the back side. it is a 210 gallon. the glass is a little over a half a inch... can some one help?? i have looked everywhere to find a answer.

Hi lilpuffer,
Best to go and talk to a glass shop. they have all the equipment to drill to holes. Just remember that if the glass cracks they wont replace it. but thats the risk you take.

tried that!!! no glass shop in town will touch it. i know how to drill it i just need to know if it is tempered or not

What do you have against the overflow boxes?

You can't. Only the manufacture of the tank knows for sure. Do you known the name brand of the tank ?

no name brand. and the overflow boxes will not go low enough in the tank for my vortech wavemaker. im going to try that polarized len thing but i have to find glasses first

Then cross your fingers and go real slow ! Make sure you use some plumbers putty to build a water puddle around the hole, while your drilling. Good luck !
