Hi! We're pretty new to this whole saltwater tank thing... we have a 75 gal. tank with live rock, sand substrate, two green chromis, and two emerald crabs. Everything is going well so far but we need to add some water to the tank. Our local fish store is a saltwater specialist and they tested our tap water and said it was great for using right out of the tap (just add salt, obviously) but if we're just topping it off do we need to do anything to the water (let it sit for a day or something, or something to get the chlorine out). Thanks for any help!

sorry, forgot to say this in the original post. we ran the tap water through carbon and we were just going to add tap water (without salt) b/c our salinity was a little high

I use simple Prime dechlor. Thats really about it. Usually tap water contains phosphates so its a much better idea to use RO/DI water, but tap will work no problem. Just add dechlor and pour in.

Always top off with freshwater, when the water evaporates out of the tank all of the salt stays in, so you gotta top it off with freshwater.
