I need a little info

Hi i am trying to get a little info for a friend on biospira and the new one the one that doesn't need to be refrigerated for her reef tanks. She is setting up 3 40gal i also need some info on seeding rock, i think its called lace rock that you use as the base and seed with live rock on top right?

Thanks

Ryan

One of the ones that I know is called Super Bac. It does not have to be refridgerated, but I don't know that much about it. As for seeding your live rock. Yes you can mix current live rock and base rock together and eventually thebase rock will become live. However the thing to remember is, you can't put in 20lbs of live rock and 5lbs of live rock and say you have 25lbs of live rock. you do not, and it will take some time, for the base rock to be seeded. This is a very commen thing to do to try and save some money.

She is on my local forum that i use for buying and selling as well as finding things (fish related) in my area. I am buying her 90gal salty tank tomorrow so she has been breaking down her 90 and dividing it up into the 40's she only has the 2 40's right now the 3rd one is coming next week i think. She had a little ammonia spike so i was trying to get her some help.

90 gal reef tank for my new basement water problems the 2nd day i had the house, so i had to rip up the carpet & the linoleum flooring (2 layers) as well as i ripped out the walls and knocked down a wall while i was at it. Now I have to rip out the ceiling and the last of the framing and I can take it right back to just cement. I have been on the phone with my lawyer and relater trying to straighten this whole mess out. Hopefully I will get some money to help repair my basement so I can set up my new tank that I will be storing for a while….. i have been stressed since i got my house 7 days tomorrow.

I got the 40 gl the way i want it after dumping the water 3 times lol
It just didnt look right ,im picky that way !
But best to be picky then have some loss down the road !.
When i got the tank(used) it smelled ,a smell like death and it was just bothering me i scrubbed it and filled it x3 untill finally it felt right.
Then i find out the tank was just sitting which would explain for the smell .
Iguess thats what happens when people dont know how to care for a tank .
I put in the super bac phew what a smell , like uncured LR .
But this am the tank is crystal clear and looking great ,has about 30lbs of dead rock (i was told it was live when i baught)
I am going to wait to put in my super live rock in till i test .
Omg im going to need another tank
Hopefully i can get my sump set up in the next 2 weeks and going to get a prizm skimmer for that as well prizm for the 20gl .
I want to use the sump to grow copepods so i will be researching them and tweaking the sump (plastic sump i break glass lol)
I really want a mandrin for my 20gl reef.
OMG things we just have to do lol

Dont worry Guy , im afraid i forgot the WARNING LABEL on the 90gl.
WARNING.....
Your life is over and you wont have enough time for eating or sleeping and you will spend so much money on the SW tank you will forget to save for gas .............
Wont have time for spouse ,as you will be the NIGHT WATCHER,with your little red light looking at what looks like MARS ....OH and dont forget shopping in the kiddie isle (parents will look at you want to steal their kids) because you are trying to find the perfect magnifying glass .
And you cant STOP at just 1 tank !!!!!.
You will either like me or hate me for ruining your life with such an awesome hobby lol
I sure hope your wife dont hate me lol when she isnt getting any lmao

I dont think the super bac is a 3 day cycle .
i think it gets your cycle going .
Testing today
Amm 1.0 (good spike )
Rites 0
Rates 0
if im right (im always right lol) the rites should come in 2 to 3 days .
So much for a quick cycleand it looks like its rubbermaid for a month for the clowns and sleeper goby's .
Worth the 20 bux's tho to get the amm up high (better then waiting a week lol)
so the cycle may be 3 weeks better then 4 !

Well with the super bac it cuts a week off the cycle .
You might be better off doing a cycle ,getting to know your system.
Being your first SW i think you should cycle maybe boost the amm to make that part faster .
This way you have time to maybe make rock? or get stuff you want or research.
just my guess on that stuff its just to boost your cycle anyway.
