Which is best live sand or crushed coral?

I am starting a new 90 gal tank, I already have a 55 gal with live sand. Which is best to use live sand or crushed coral or mix the two. What is your opinion?

A mix would be good or just live sand. I personally would'nt go straight crushed coral because of the benefits of live sand.

Sand ! Crushed coral is evil ... j/k Sand or bare bottom would be my choice.

I've used/use both and I think I like the look of the sugar fine (smallest grain size) sand the best, although with high water flows it can pose a problem. Either one will eventually become "live".

id go with live sand...
crushed coral.. you have to constantly syphon it and keep it clean yourself...
live sand.. not so much you can just add a cleanup crew and itll keep it clean for you..
with crushed coral youre bound to have a nitrate spike... because of all the detritus that builds up in it.... which is why you have to constantly syphon it.. but yeah
id go with live sand.

I'm going to Pensacola Beach for vacation and was thinking about bringing some of that sand home to put in my 75 gallon fish only tank. I already have some live sand in there.

Is this a good idea or not?

well from reading different options from live sand the sand straight from the sea is better and keeps a more stable ph in your system and has natural bacteria from the sea but i wouldnt reccomend collecting to near the shore but would go further out as people just throw anything in the sea and ya wouldnt know wot was mixed with it
