lighting question

hey i picked up a 24 inch power compact light system today currently i have it supported with shot glasses 8)
and it is proped up on my old hood.. wich was set up for a standard light..
so my question is where should i get a stand for the light.. to keep it up above the water a little... im planning to get a all glass canopy for it.. i just dont want to set the compact light directly on the glass anyone have any ideas

Re: lighting question

I use drsfostersmith.com and marinedepot.com for parts. Very good sites and great customer service. Once you get the legs for the lights, I'd recommend not using the glass canopy since it will cut down on the amount of light reaching the animals that need it in the tank.

Re: lighting question

thanks mike... if i dont cover the tank with the glass the fish store guy said id have alot of evaporation.... adding water the the tank on a more regular basis... you think that wil be the case?

Re: lighting question

Yep - but that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you're trying to keep the alkalinity and calcium levels up using kalkwasser and it helps keep the tank from getting too hot.
