Saltwater Aquarium Lighting Forum for saltwater aquarium lighting topics. Perhaps one of the most expensive components in a reef tank set up, lighting is a topic that should researched thoroughly by the hobbyist. The type of lighting you use will determine which corals you can keep. There are several options for lighting such as T5-HO, VHO, Metal Halide, Power Compact and more recently LED. The new LED set ups are rather expensive but they can save you money in the long run.

Best reflector for t5

I am in the process of getting my lighting togeather. The only thing I need is reflectors. What is the best reflector for Hagen T5 light bulbs? Do they make a reflector for 4-8 lights or only individually?

It is better to use an individual reflector for each bulb for maximum light output. Try to find SLR Parabolic reflectors.

+1 You want a single reflector for each bulb. You will get more out of each individual light this way.

IceCap SLR for being the best in terms of quality and light reflectivity.

I'm running a Sunlight Supply reflector as well but it's reflective finish is more like polished aluminium as opposed to the mirrored finish of the IceCap SLR.

one thing to note is the IceCap's are 2.5" wide and the Sunlight Supply is only 2" wide. So if you are space constrained, go with the SS but I would recommend the SLRs..
