I just bought a 65 watt actinic compact fluorescent light fixture for my 20 gallon saltwater tank and I was wondering what the differences were between actinic and daylight. if it is important to have both then I will but new bulb. I got the light for 40.00 which is a great deal so I think I can afford a bulb. thanks for your help.

The difference is light spectrum. The actinic color is very blue, making colors pop on your fish and corals. A 50/50 (one tube 10K the other tube blue) reef bulb is very popular.

Is there a bulb that is better than the other? I do like the blue light alot though. I also have 50/50 on my 29 gallon and the colors arent that bad.

White light is better for plant or coral growth. Blue is better for looks.
