Sump filter??

Is this really a kind of sump filter?? I read that wet/dry filters is another name for sumps. I'm planning on getting a sump for my tank and i'm wondering if anyone haves bought this.

That would just be a filter that can go inside of a tank. Wet/dry filters are just that a filter and I guess could be considered a sump. But they would just be nitrate factories in a SW tank. You would be best constructing your own sump from an old tank, and using live rock rubble, chaeto, live sand, and mechanical filtration of some sort.

That isnt a sump A sump is an old tank that water flows in from your tank then out into the tank

A sump filter is a spare tank that water from your tank flows into. When the water is in the sump it goes through a series of filter media and then it flows back up into your aqaurium.

A wet/dry filter has the water go through a series of filter media too. They are pretty much the same. A DIY sump out of an old tank is usually the cheaper option and works just as well if not better. Both a wet/dry filter and a sump can be modified to anyone's liking.

Thanks for clarifing this. Would a ten gallon sump be good enough for a 28??

A 10 gallon sump would be great. Assuming you only have about 7 gallons running through it, you're increasing the tank's water by 25%, adding more stability. The more water you have, the more stable it is.
