85 gallon

I currently have a 47 gallon aquarium with one eheim 2217 and a fluval 404 canister filters and a Aqua C Remora skimmer hooked up to it. I came across an 85 gallon tank priced just right. The filtration on this tank is set up almost like an Eclipse system with the filtration being on top of the tank. The only thing in the filter are bio balls. Should I keep the same filtration it has or use my set up instead? Thanks

Hmm, if you have live rock and a protein skimmer you don't really need to run a mechanical filter unless you need to run with some sort of chemical filter such as activated carbon or phosban or similar.

If you don't have live rock, the bio-balls in the mechanical filter will act as the main home of the nitrifying bacteria in the tank, so you'd need to keep them.
