| Baby Mice i was wondering, what is sufficient space for 6 3-6 week old mice? my friend offered me a 10 gallon tank is that big enough? is there any way i can make it work? im on a budget for science fair. thx! it will only be a week in these cages will 10 gallons work? im gonna sell'm to good homes afterwards so it will be 2 or 3 per 10 gallons. can i put 6 baby mice in a 10 gallon tank for a week? | Six mice that are no more than seven weeks old should do fine in a 10g tank, as long as they've got good, clean bedding, food, water, etc... at that age, they wouldn't be roaming much, anyway.
I also second Lucy's question. Where'd the "Baby Fish" come in? |

| Only problem would be airflow as tanks don't have much airflow in them without help from a fan or something since they are so tall and narrow. |

I've kept rodents in 10g tanks before with no problem. |

| As my first reply said, six juvenile mice that will be in a 10g tank for only a week should do fine.
Not sure about what mice at that stage are best fed, though. Sorry. |

| Six juvenile mice will be fine in a ten gallon tank. I've used ten gallon tanks to house breeding groups (1 male & 4 female adults) for over thirty years with great results. Just make sure and keep the bedding clean and supply them with fresh water and food at all times. Three weeks is a little young, and most mice won't be fully weaned. You can still raise them at this age by supplementing their regular food with small amounts of bread soaked in milk a couple times a day until they are about 4 1/2 weeks old. Make sure and don't leave the bread/milk in the cage for more than about 6 hours, or the milk can spoil.
I just have one concern. What do you mean by a "Net" top? Mice are great escape artist. An adult mouse can easily squeeze through a hole smaller than a dime. Unless you are using a wire mesh top made to fit a 10 gallon tank, you will most likely have six mice loose in your house within 24 hours. Good luck with your science project.
