Anyone own poisonous snakes?

I have a frend who have a albino monicle cobra and is going to give it to me. Other than the setup what else would I need?

To receive a permit for keeping poisonous creatures, isn't there some sort of inspection agency that comes to inspect your facilities, as well as your safety measures? Anytime a poisonous creature is going to be handled there should be anti-venom within reach, but aren't most anti-venoms kept at only the high-end hospitals in the country?

Thats true. Only anti-venom is in the hospital but I do have a friend who can supply it to me. I dont mind an inspection. I have some old cages with locks on the front sliding doors that I can use.

If you are looking for some really excellent reptile info, I would look into the forum www.redtailboas.com It is a wonderful site with several well-informed people on there. Hope this helps!

your local cites list will tell you if it is legal to own venemous snakes, or what measures need to be taken to get a permit. It's not as easy as applying and getting it, there's usually a long waiting period and heavy fees. When I got my rattlesnakes (eastern diamond backs) and my bush vipers, I waited nearly a year to get the go ahead
