Advice from Past/Current Leopard Gecko Lovers?

I've done anoles for years and years, but I decided to try something new out.. aka something that gets a little bit bigger than my little guys.

Seeing as how leopard geckos are desert critters, this is a whole new ball game for me.

I've had him for 4 weeks now. He's on a diet of crickets and meal worms. I have a night and a day light.
*I was thinking of getting live succulents from petco to put in there if I carefully check them over since its rather boring right now... any horror stories there?
*Also.. due to the arboreal nature of my anoles and the fact they wouldn't overeat.. I never had to worry about turning the two weeks worth of crickets loose in the tank. However, this situation seems different as this is sand instead of dirt and he sits on the sand.. bad idea? Do they overeat?

Any other I wish I would have/my number 1 advice?

The attachments isn't working for me so I uploaded elsewhere! Here's my new baby:

There was an even cooler colour variety available but this one has the most spunk.. and you always gotta go with the one with the most spunk hehe.

I have one and shes a hoot.... lizzie the meal worm stalker! if you wanna check her out...but as far as the live succulents with her, not sure on that...I do know they are not active pets a bit and are more of a lay around and bask kinda pet..until its feeding time...the anoles I kept prior to her, were more active ..and thats not saying much LOL

LOL! That is adorable! Real cutie. Mine does the same stare at food for long time thing as well. Which is so strange for me since my anoles would run catch run catch.

I actually started dropping the meals in the dish from the top of the tank to get his/her attention (not sure yet since it's a juvie) and it goes and sits in the dish making a revolving slow circle as it eats the meal worms.

They are so cute. Mine used to put his foot on the mealworm and then grab it...
