Alligator Snapping Turtle Found In Yard!

I found an Alligator Snapping Turtle In my pasture Yesterday so I called my friend he captured it and put it in a bucket to transport to his house! He has a washed up bathtub in his backyard buried in the ground so you can only see the top. I live In Florida And the closest Lake is Lake Weir In Marion County He/She is living in the bathtub now eating frozen fish used for bait!
We are Keeping him til Sunday to make sure he is stable enough to Live. I
need to know if Lake Weir If Suitable place for him! The Turtles name is Spike

welcome spike
ask your friends if you can have a picture of him, i really like turtles. I have kept turtles in the past. i mostly like tortoises, but i have a soft spot for red eared sliders
i used to keep a snapping turtle ( not alligator, it would have eaten me!)
but we gave him away since he got so big ( around 10 inches) so we couldnt keep him

wow! it was probably a female, since they grow larger than males... I love turtles, i would keep them if i could, but you cant really keep them happy inside, they need ponds. I started off with 3 red eared sliders the size of a quarter, and they grew up to be about 8 inches and were already having mating behavior, so i had to give them away since they outgrew their kiddy pool pond
turtles are awesome

oh that gator is amazing! if i had a big enough tank i would keep him

That's pretty cool. You could check with the game warden or whoever is in charge of Lake Weir. They'd be able to tell you.

you could also ask a zoo or something if they can take it in for you and make a little recreational area specificly for the Turtle

Snappers are pretty smart and adaptable. As long as there's fish in the lake, and as long as some of the banks are made of grass and soil, this one will do fine there.
What kind of area do you live in? Are you in an urban center, in the suburbs of an urban center, or out in a rural area? Are there no bodies of water close by? (ponds, creeks, etc...)

its sorta out in the country everyone has atleast an acre or 2 and all the little ponds depend on rain and the closest body of water is Lake Weir
