Gozer's animal rescue rescues a Gecko

I adopted a Bibrons gecko a few days ago. Some friends got 3 reptiles from some one giving them away. They would only give them all 3. My friends couldn't have just one. They wanted the Iguana and the other as yet unidentified lizard. I took the mean one they didn't want. Might as well. My other reptile is not so friendly either. Atleast that one doesn't bite lol. I got him setup with a 10 Gallon tank and an incandescent "Blue Daylight" bulb. I need something for night time that will put out some UVs but the blue light is Ok for now. I supplement anyway. He's not a very friendly guy but I don't plan on handling him much at all. Just for cleaning really. Need to get a descent cave too but he has lots of moss stuff to bury himself in for now. Anway, just thought I'd share my new friends arrival with everyone.

I've thought about getting some more reptiles. My parents had a 5 foot ball python when I was about 5 years old. That was a blast, carrying around a snake that was like a foot longer than me. We had her for a long time.

Any how, got any pictures? Thats nice of you to give him a good home.

I had a 5 ft Boa for awhile but didn't like dealing with feeding mice and rats. I have a habit of taking in unwanted reptiles and giving them a home untill I can find a good permenant home for them. I haven't decided if I want to keep this gecko. Been through 2 water dragons, an iguana, 1 boa, 2 long tail lizards, and now a gecko. All but the gecko have been passed on to other people. I also have a Uromastyx but he was a B-Day present. He's mine mine mine. Usually some one is checking out my reptiles and says OOO AHHHHH and I say "You want one?" Bam New permenant home. If no one ever wants one I get a new pet. lol I've had just the Uromastyx for about 3 years, so this is my first rescue in quite awhile. I figure, at least they'll have a good home instead of being released or worse. As long as I have space and setup, why not? right.

Thought I'd update on this little fellow. He's been very unwell. He stopped eating and started to get really weak. He was losing bone mass from not eating and getting his vitamin D. Been hand feeding him nightly with mealworms and he's making a come back. Must have really been traumatic for him changing home 3 times in couple days. He should pull through but may be a little spoiled after it all. May have trouble getting him back into eating on his own. He's got a lot of energy back and runs away when I try to pick him. Atleast he can run again. Wish him well he still needs it.

Oh I think he's doing MUCH better. He bit me twice last night while trying to feed him. He hasn't had the energy to try till then. He's also coming out of his cave and drinking from the water bowl normally now. Good thing he doesn't have much for teeth cause he got a good bite both times. They just can't tell you're trying to help. Not to mention that I basically have to make him mad to get him to open his mouth so I could stick a worm in there. I also changed night lights so the temps are a tad higher and the night light puts out a little UV too. That has to be helping.

Thanks for your concern.
