red tail sharks

my red tail sharks tail is starting to look faded, does that mean he is sick?

Could be. How are your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? Has anything happened lately with the tank, like new fish added, or an ammonia spike? Let us know what your readings are.

This also happens as they age, but is generally not seen in a fish less than a few years old.

Sometimes its when they are stressed or scared, they usually go quite pale then. Mine used to go pale when I cleaned the tank but eventually got used to it.

My betta goes pale when the lights off or when he's sleeping but when it goeson or there's activity inthe room he goes deep red again. Same as my friends clown loach...
