Red Tail Shark with Kuhlis?

Could I keep a red tail shark with Kuhli's in my 29 gallon? Or would the RTS attack them?

The RTS shouldn't be kept in a tank with other bottom dwellers, because it often cruises the bottom of the tank itself.

IMO the RTS would be too aggressive, it might work in a bigger tank like a 55 or 75 but a 29 is pretty small for both

I agree with all the above Kuhlis do not have a means to defend themselves (no teeth or sharp fins) so they need to be in as non- aggressive tank as they can be in.

I don't know what the dimensions on your 29 are but RTS like a length of 36" min. in their tank. IMO I think that a 29 might be a bit too small for them.

i have kept rts with kuhlis before, as long as you have plenty of areas for the rts to call his own, you should be ok. however, 29 gal. might be too small for that

Someone Correct me if im wrong but isnt the minimum for a RTS 55 gals?

As scottk said you would need alot of areas for the Shark to call his territory.

Didn't you mention in another thread that you are trying to breed kuhlis? If this is the case, you should keep very peaceful fish in the tank (no fish that would be tempted to eat the eggs or fry). I would try community fish such as guppies, tetras, rasboras, etc.

In an ideal world yes. In a less then ideal world you'll want to give the shark a tank at least 36" long. However you need to keep in mind that the smaller the tank the more limited your tank-mates and the more lightly you'll want to stock (unless you over comp. with lots and lots of plants and territories to keep the other fish safe from a grumpy shark). I'd say that somewhere around 33-40 Gals would be the min. but tank length is key.
