everything i have read on the red tail black shark says that is more shy and tends to linger in the bottom to mid range of the tank and that they are agressive towards smaller fish...

mine is co-existing happily with the guppies and lonely danio, but he's staying at the surfase a lot, by the filter.. any ideas? after my poor clowns i won'd want to lose him too.

maybe you should do a few tests. nitrates, nitrites, pH, ammonia, ect. you might need more air in the water. get a few bubblers. first, find out what is wrong with the shark. it is probably oxygen poisening
