size of sharks.

i read everywhere on here that people seem to think that the red tail shark will only grow to around 3-4". and that the rainbow is much bigger.
this may be true in thoery but most of the adult redtails i have seen have been 5-6-7" ,in my local fish store there is an 8" redtail.
can someone tell me if these are rare fish r does this happen all the time.

Hi Goggles
In theory and recorded information on the Red Tail Shark, they only grow up to 4.5 inches.
The Rainbow shark grows up to 6 inches.
There are always exceptions to the rule, and your LFS must have those. He must be doing something right!

Hi Kate, I've been busy with study etc and decided to do the 30% water change after 2 days for my Redtailed Shark anyway, B4 I looked up your response. He/she is out of the corner on and off, and eating again. Also back to playing chaseys with his/her mate 'Snarkey Shark'. So thing are looking up for the tank in general. Someone criticised me for keeping too many fish in my tank, but I've had exactly the same combination B4 with happy and healthy fish. The key seems to be lots of Java fern and 2 cavey rocks as hiding and playing places for the fish! Thanx for requesting a photo, I've got one ready on Email of my 2 favorites to post with my logon, but need instructions from the site managers about how to attach same....... Cheers Jewels
