Hi,

I have a Red Tail Shark in my tank. He's about 6 months old and lives with two plecos peacefully. The sharks behavior has been perfect since day one with nothing out of the ordinary. Just recently his dorsal fin has started to turn white at the very tip. It's been this way for about 2 weeks. A couple days ago his other fins begain to turn white, again...at the tips only. I don't think this is Ich as it doesn't look quite like that.

Has anyone seen or heard of this?

Yes, this happened to mine not too long ago as well. They change with age, and it's perfectly normal for them. No need to worry.

Do you know if the white parts of his fins will increase over time or does it stay to just the tips?

That's okay. I hope you find it useful. I've only recently joined, and have found out a lot already

But no, it is only the tips that turn white. Well... only the tip of the dorsal fin of mine have turned white, but I've heard of others where the bottom fins have started changing too.
It's definitely not ich, though.

I'm glad to hear it's not a problem because it looks pretty cool. Now he's a red tail, white tip shark!

I'll post photos of the little guy tonight.
