| Doesn't sound normal.
What are the water parameters?
Has it recently gotten into a fight with any of the other cichlids?
Could there be something stuck in its throat?
I know this does not pertain to the topic:
but just a thought for the future - that tank is severly overstocked. And red devils get their names through their personalities. There should only be one of those fish in the tank. Not all 3. |

| Well, african cichlids have different water requirements than SA cichlids. |

| I don't know anything about RD's but twitching his head seems like aggression. |

| Maybe it has something to do with the tank being overstocked? Not enough room? |

| How large are they? To keep all three, your friend would have to have a 120 gal. tank, at least that. |

| Wow. Maybe the Oscar attacked it. That's food for an Oscar that large.
They really should be in a different tank, with the Oscar alone in the 55. |

| eh its not my problem anyway i was just asking for him they actually seem very peacefull from my observations there is no aggression whatsoever and the red devil is very peacefull just has that weird twiching thing |

| Well, your friend really should take everything except for the Oscar to a LFS. It's the humane thing to do. The Red Devil is called a devil for a reason. |

| I'm really not sure. Is it a violent twitch? Or is it more of a shaking? Is it rubbing itself against anything in the tank? |

| He's still doing it?
Is there any way that you could post a video?
I just read that this is a symptom of gill flukes, could that be it? Last edited by Amanda; March 7th, 2009 at 12:19 PM.
