I recently bought some baby midas cichlids on line and I'm wondering if I got ripped off. There about two inches long and theyre still a grayish color. I asked the guy from aquabid about them and he said they would color up as they got bigger. Any info would be appreciated.

The gallery shows hundreds of color morphs, maybe yours is a different color morph.

So does anyone know what color 2-3 inch baby midas cichlids are? I dont see any in the above mentioned link. I thought it might be a standard color for babies.

I'm not asking about all the different colors possible, I'm simply asking if young Midas cichlids are a certain color. I dont see any baby fish in that first link, I could be wrong though. So are baby midas cichlids (2-3 inchs) a certain color? Like, are they all born grayish colored, or not. Thanks and sorry about the confusion, maybe I should have worded it different.

Most SA cichlids are gray, earthier tones as juvies. They all tend to look the same, at least to me. Looking at a SA cichlid tank at my LFS drives me crazy! I can't tell them apart. lol
