Would I be able?
Would my 36 gallon tank be able to hold only one butterfly ram without it really disturb all my fish?

Re: Would I be able?
I'm guessing from no response that I woouldn't be able to fit one ram in my 36 gallon tank?

Re: Would I be able?
From different sites I checked out, the all say it would be okay to hold a ram due to the peacefulness of it.

Re: Would I be able?
Hi. I have one male Bolivian Ram that I removed from a tank that had 2 males & a female, to cut down on agression between the males. I've had him in a community tank a couple days now, with Platies, Neons, and Cories, and the fish all get along just fine. I'd guess the same would be true with one butterfly since the species are closely related and similar in size. I guess a lot depends on what other fish you have in that 36 gallon, but the tank size is definitely fine, as long as it's not overstocked.

Re: Would I be able?
Well duh! I usually ignore signatures, and if I have the option I shut them off in the other forums I belong to - sorry. IMHO I'd say go with the ram. The only fish that I'm not really familiar with are the loaches. If they're peaceful I don't see a problem. I've had the other fish you have listed in tanks with rams and had no problem. I'd even make a guess that you could have a pair of rams, as long as you don't end up with 2 males. They can be difficult to sex when they're not fully adult - especially with the Bolivians. I had to get help sexing mine in a cichlid forum I spend a lot of time in.

Re: Would I be able?
I just want to have only one since I don't want any more agression than my clown loach playfully chasing my yoyo loach.

Re: Would I be able?
Sorry tom for the no0 response. It's a shame when work gets in the way of my hobby LOL
Your tank is stocked to capacity right now. I wouldn't add any more fish.

Re: Would I be able?
If I understand your calculations correctly no their not correct. when you calculate your fish sizes you calculate their ADULT size not their current sizes. In that case you currently have 47 inches or more of potential fish which won't work for your tank because of the clown which has more body mass so the 1 inch per gallon won't work for him.

Re: Would I be able?
For the clown and CAE, would I calculate what it's full adult size is, or the size when I am going to trade it for something else? And how big do yo-yo loaches grow to be?

Re: Would I be able?
Until you actually trade them their not gone so yes you would calculate their adult size because who knows you might still have them

Re: Would I be able?
Tom this is one of the reasons why we advise people to figure adult size when stocking a tank. http://www.fishlore.com/Forum/45-fre...onation.0.html Some times things happen to make larger tanks impossible in the future or the fish are not trades like we think we are going to.
I still say your tank is full to capacity BUT... it is your tank and it's up to you to decide

Re: Would I be able?
For the loaches and CAEs, I got those before I registered on this site. And the people at the stroe said they will only grow a few inches. But, hey, I we are only human, we all make mistakes, "That's why pencils have erasers"Lenny Leonard(The Simpsons). And thanks for not saying that I have to do everything according to 'the rules' of fish keeping(which I try and not break any of them).

Re: Would I be able?
Yes I have noticed you try to take good care of your fish But when you ask a question and I respond I'm going to give you the very best information I know how to give and then it's up to you to decide whether it's the info you need or not
