Mine are active all day and night, but since yours are new to your tank, they may feel safer to swim in the dark.

One of the Rams finally started eating and will eat anything I throw into the tank. Now the other one has to start.

If it does not look extra skinny its probably eating when you are not looking.....Glad to hear the other one is eating. Mine are now eating at the top with the angel and DG. Goes to show us that each fish has their own personality.

Right on D.

Are there any other fish in the tank with them?

Yea there a rummy nose, albino cory, botia kubotai, small gibbiceps. I was telling Redlessi that I had an ICH outbreak with my rummy noses and all but 1 died so the temps in the tank are around 85 and when the tank reached that temp that was when the Ram started eating. You think the temp has anything to do with it?

I don't know, I wouldn't think so but it is possible.

If you could up the number of rummy noses that may help them come out more often also.

I'm afraid to add anything new until the ICH is gone. I had 4 but they died off fast. I plan on getting Harlequin Rasboras once the ICH is gone. Would they go with the Rams?

I haven't had them myself but I believe they are pretty mild mannered so should be fine.

Once the Bolivians see a few other fish out and about they should come out more.

The Bolivians you have are small right? If they are then that one is eating something, because you have had them for about 2 weeks now right? If they are still small that is a long time to go with no food. I highly doubt it will starve itself also.

I've had them since the end of October so thats a lot more then 2 weeks. They are small around 2". I was suspecting that they were eating my Wisteria because I agree that they wouldn't starve themselves. The other one might also be eating when the light goes off. But one is eating so hopefully that will trigger the other to start eating the food I give them. My dad fed them hikari cichlid bio gold when I was at work last week and he said one of the Rams was eating it and thats how it started so maybe it took the right kind of food and not the increase in temp.

Here's an update on my Rams. One of the Rams is now eating everything I put in the tank but unfortunately the other Ram continued not to eat and passed away on Christmas day. Within the next couple of days I should have a new GBR and I'll try to post some pictures.

I'm so sorry you lost one of your bolivians, but I'm looking forward to seeing your new GBR when you get him/her

The LFS near my job can't get their hands on any GBRs for a while because of the holiday. Figures that 2 weeks ago they had about 15.

The LFS near my job got a surprise shipment today so I was able to get a GBR. My bolivian is extremely bullying the fish tho... I threw in food and turned off the light and every light in my room as my dad suggested to. Hopefully everything will work out because I do have plenty of hiding spaces.

Good luck D.

My only suggestion is I wouldn't throw food in with lights out. Chances are it will just sit and go uneaten.

The food went in 5 mins before the light went out and the fish ate it so I don't think that will be an issue but thanks for the advice anyway.

I know I didn't tell you but I do appreciate the help. I don't understand why the Ram instantly picks on the GBR but the other fish in the tank the ram doesn't even so much as chase away.

The GBR survived the night and they seem to have taken their own territory in the tank. The Bolivian has calmed down and isn't chasing the GBR that much but when they get near each other, the Bolivian will chase her for 15 seconds.

The situation in my tank took a 180 and now the GBR will chase the Bolivian when their paths cross. I don't understand that one.

They're cichlids. That means they're crazy and they don't make sense

Seriously, they're probably trying to figure out which one will be the dominant one in the tank.

I'm having the same problem. So does soaking the food in garlic juice really help stimulate feeding/eating?

I have no experience with that so I can't answer that for you but after 2 weeks all the aggression stopped.

It's worked for me several times. And it's a great immune-system booster.

Turns out that all that they needed were bloodworms. Thank goodness I didn't spend too much on obscurevfoods. But I will be sure to vary their diets.
