Balloon ram is usually just another name for the blue ram. If so, they're a naturally-occurring species. Do they look like the blue rams?

they look like blue rams alright, though they are really round. Not the elongated body like regular rams, but literally round. Here's a video of what they look like:

also they are about 3-4 inches

here is a pic of what they look like:

To me, they look like gold rams, but I'm not very familiar with gold or blue rams. I've researched them online and seen them in stores, but that's the limit of my experience. I would like to say the fish in the video are not hybrid, but I can't swear to it.

Hopefully, another member will see this thread that can answer your question for sure

I remember reading in another thread that they are GBR breed to be round like that, so they should be the same just a different shape. I have never see one in a store or owned one though so I would poke around some of the threads, wait for a reply from someone who owns them, or .

they are a genetic twist to the normal rams....treat them the same as regular rams (all rams what ever names u use)...I still believe you cant beat the original rams (german blue is a marketing name) there are also Gold, longfin, ballon and now the latest is electric blue or neon blue.
