Blue Ram Cichlids: Hiders?

I brought home two blue rams today and all they've done is hide behind the plants. It's a bit frustrating and annoying but I wonder if this isn't only temporary.

Has anyone had experience similar to this? Do I need to bring in more blue ram cichlids so that they can school and feel safer?

Give it some time, they might have to get used to the tank. They're beautiful little fish

Adding to what Lucy said, they are not schooling fish. Adding any more than two to a 30g tank is asking for trouble, and even two might be pushing it if one turns out to be particularly dominant or aggressive.

Especially if you have a mating pair. Mine got very aggressive and territorial towards my DG.

Sorry...they're in a 75 gallon tank. I haven't listed that in my profile yet.

Please update your aqaurium info so the members can give accurate info.
I'd give them some time to get used to their new surroundings.

They are just shy atm. Give it time. They can become quite active once they feel safe in your tank. Good luck.

My GBR is still a teeny shy and I've had him for a week, maybe more. Give them time to adjust and acclimate, and they should be right as rain, provided they are good quality and the age of the tank (Hate to repeat anything you know already lol)

Good luck with this pretty fish!

I replied in your glassfish and gourami threads also.
I see you have an ammonia reading. This can cause fish to hide also, as they may not be feeling well.
Daily water changes would be a good idea to get the cycle back.
Looks like you might have added too many fish at once.
GBR's are especially sensitive to their water.
