Sex This Ram Please

Been having difficulty keeping these fish. 3 have died the past week and I have two left. One healthy one and one stressed/sick. Can anyone sex this healthy one? I bought it as a male, but am having my doubts after reading the info on the net, as well as the fine article in this forum. My other Ram is most likely sick because of the aggression from this one.

Sorry, only low quality cell phone pics.

They say you can tell by the dorsal fins, but I can only tell them apart because of the pink belly on the female. It's hard to see the coloring in your pics but I think maybe male
Here's a pic of my two, maybe it'll help you. The female is on top, the male below.
I lost the male last night.

It's so difficult to find healthy GBR stock.

I agree, the pics look like your fish is a male.

Thanks for replies.

Sorry about your Ram, Lucy.

I need to invest in a good dig cam I think.

The fish were getting along fine and I thought I had a pair, but this aggression from the healthy one is making me wonder. Maybe they just weren't compatible or the male turned on the female because she was stressed or sick. I'm not ready to give up, yet.

It's much harder to tell with the stressed one since he/she has little color, but he/she doesn't have the spiked 2nd/3rd dorsal fin. So I'm thinking female. The one in the pics above might have a longer spiked dorsal fin, but it kind of 'flops' down and doesn't spike at the moment. That fish is doing very well, btw - competes with the Boesemani at feeding time.

Maybe I'll try adding a few more with the healthy one at a later time. Maybe from a different source even though my current source seems to get the best stock around these parts.

Although the picture is blurry, I would most definately say the GBR in the pictures is a male. How is the stressed Ram doing?

The stressed Ram died in the same manner as the others. The male in the pics (yes it's indeed a he) is doing great. I got him a female friend a few days ago and so far they are hitting it off very well with no signs of illness or other probs.
