BR Plans

I'm thinking of getting my first pair of rams! But I want others opinions first...

I have a 30 Gallon tank (fully cycled) with 8 Colombian Tetras and 5 Cories. I was wondering if it would be possible to add two Bolivian Rams and 1 Angelfish.

I do plan to upgrade to at least a 65 Gallon tank in the next year.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

I think you could add the Bolivians and an angelfish. In my experience they tend to coexist quite well. You seem to have stocked your tank conservatively and I think your new additions would be a fun and interesting choice.

Is it best to get a male and female? Or can you get two males or two females? I don't want them to breed.

Sheesh.... you just had to ask that question! LOL

I've never been able to reliably sex Bolivian rams, as much as I've tried!

If you really don't want any spawns, have you considered just keeping a single specimen?

I wouldn't hate babies, I just don't have the space for now for them! Not to mention I would probably get too focused on breeding and forget about enjoying them (my experience with Guppies).

I really do want two because of the interaction between them (hopefully it wont be aggressive). I hate getting solo fish when they are normally social. But with my tank size I have to do that with the Angel and really don't want to do that to the BRs.

So I guess I'll get two and just hope for the best!?

I hate to bring up a sour note, but I have a question and this is the perfect thred.

I've had an Angel fish for months now and he is great. Doesnt boss around my smaller rasboras and tetras around feeding time the way my old one did. But I introduced 2 Rams today and sat waiting all day for them to feel comfortable coming out of the plants.
Just as I feared the angel went chasing them around. This is my first cichlid experience.
So I removed the angel fish placing him in my 20 gal quarentene tank for tonight cuz I love the rams and dont want to set the mood forever.

What do you guys think of my situation?
Thanks :-)
