Thanks .

Here are couple of pics of the new male. They aren't the best, but I didn't want to freak him out too much with a bunch of flashes. I am not sure he is as nice as the last one though. I'll just have to wait to see what he looks like after he becomes more comfortable in his new home. Either way, I think he is a pretty good looking fish .

P.S. Every time I look at my female GBR, she gets better looking . I really hope I get a chance to breed her some day.

WOW another fabulous looking male there Wot_Fan...
I wish you the best with the new one. I dont know if I would have bought any more from this batch of GBRs tho.. if there is gill fluke going around with them, it may have been a better idea to medicate your tank and wait for the next shipment in and see how they looked? In any event.. he is there now and I really will hope for the best for the lil guy.. He is gorgeous!

I was a little hesitant about buying another GBR so soon. I decided to go and see how the rams looked at the LFS. They had gotten a new shipment since I purchased my last one. I watched them for a good 15 minutes and didn't see anything wrong with any of them so I decided to give it a shot.

I have been putting some thought into how the flukes were introduced in the first place and I am fairly sure that the rams were fluke free when I put them in my tank. I had the first one for over a month. I think the flukes were introduced with some guppies I added 10 days before he died. I lost about half of the guppies in the first week. I wrote it off to the rams being aggressive due to breeding. The last male GBR died 11 days after I added him. I think being stressed by his change of home gave the flukes in my tank a chance at him. I know this is circumstantial, but I am inclined to believe the guppies we to blame.

I'll keep you all posted. Hopefully I didn't make a mistake with my lack of patients .

Hey Wot,

Sorry to hear about your Male. Did you pick up the new one at Aquarium Adventure also?
****Off Topic: AA gets new shipments in every Wednesday (according to my friend that works there)****

I just picked up a new Male and Female last week (Monday). Both are doing well and have already attempted a spawn. But now I'm getting worried...I'd hate to lose another....Guess I should keep a good eye on them and maybe pick up some meds "just in case"

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Steve . Yes I got my new GBR at AA. Their rams are so good looking it is hard to go elsewhere. It doesn't hurt that I am a fish club member and get a good discount on fish .

Glad to hear your rams are doing well. If you have any doubts regarding flukes, I recommend you medicate. The stuff I used is pretty inexpensive (around $6 I think) and it claims not to affect the bio filtration. IOW, it can only help. None of my other fish seemed to notice that it was in the tank.

So far so good with my new male. He seems to have settled in to his new home. He is eating and his color is good. I am going to keep a close eye on him for the next couple of weeks (at least) though.

Good luck with your rams. Post pics if you can.

Haha...AA Fishclub membership RULES!!! 25% off all livestock (including live plants) and 10% off equiptment is hard to beat!

Pics are a def possibility with my new pair. They seem to be little hams and enjoy sitting in the front of the tank staring at you!!

BTW...what is the name of the meds you bought?

Cool. I look forward to seeing the pics.

The med is PrazilPro. It comes in a little 1oz bottle.

Well I just had a small scare turn into a pleasant surprise. I looked up from what I was doing to check out the my tank and couldn't find either GBR. I watched for a few minutes and still no rams. I walked over to the tank with a little dread to find them spawning .

I grabbed my camera and threw it on my tripod. I am recording the action now. Unfortunately, they didn't chose a location for their eggs that lends itself to being video taped like they did last time. Hopefully the vid will still be worth a watch. I will post it in the video section if it looks OK.

I guess my new male and my female are getting along .

Thanks . I can't tell you how nice it is to have something positive to report about my GBRs for a change .

EDIT: Just started a thread in the video group with a movie of the rams breeding.
